Why Would Someone Be For or Against Fair Use?

The resources you've looked at with your group so far have shown what Fair Use is, how it has been applied, and how we can determine if something is Fair Use. Now it's time to consider some different perspectives on the topic. The following, are two short segments from an article by Law Street Media. It discusses why some people really like Fair Use Laws, and why some people don't.

To help you understand the text, here are a few definitions to read over:

  • Litigation: the process of taking legal action.
  • Infringing: the process of breaking the terms of a law or agreement.
  • Embolden: to give someone the courage or confidence to do something.
  • Ambiguous: open to more than one interpretation or meaning; unclear or inexact.

After reading this, how do you and your group feel about  Fair Use laws? You'll have to discuss with each other to know:)
